Virginia Fire & Ambulance
Fire Marshal's Office
The Virginia Fire Marshal's Office is held by Jacob Keehl. The Fire Marshal investigates fires and other hazardous conditions, carries out fire inspections on new construction, daycare and adult living facilities, foster care homes, hotels, motels, boarding and apartment buildings. Fire code violations and fire related complaints are handled by the Fire Marshal in addition to the proactive fire prevention program which includes scheduling public relations events or tours for schools, daycare visits, and special citizen groups. The Fire Marshal administers the Knox Box program, which allows the fire department to access business and other building in the event of a medical or fire emergency with a special key rather than damaging the door while making entry.
